GIG: Tex Perkins & The Dark Horses

Photo: Martin Philbey

In case you’re due for a dose of Tex “The Sex” Perkins, you’d be thrilled to learn the gruff-voiced entertainer/storyteller is set to roll into Brisbane with his restless Dark Horses — aka rock & roll journeymen Charlie Owen, Joel Silbersher (of GOD fame), James Cruickshank (of The Cruel Sea), Stephen Hadley and Gus Agars (of The Gin Club).

Playing songs from their second LP proper Everyone’s Alone, the all-star band gallop into The Zoo on Thursday November 8 — joined by the ever-gentlemanly troubadour Mike Noga (of The Drones). In Tex’s own words, “this record has more of a band feel to it and less of a singer-songwriter trip”, which can only serve as a good sign considering the man knows how to front a kickarse rock band. Saddle along.

Media & comms pro who works in mysterious ways. Writer, vinyl enthusiast, sort-of cineaste, history and geopolitics nerd and (nearly) reformed muso. Has a soft spot for hyphens and slashes. Will chew off your ear about obscure music, random facts and world football.
